Who are eligible to register a New Company?
The majority of industries in Vietnam allow 100% foreign ownership. These include manufacturing, IT, trade, and education. Foreign ownership is, however, limited in some industries. Tourism, logistics, and advertising are examples of these industries. As a result, foreign investors will require a Vietnamese partner for joint ventures.
Foreign ownership is governed by World Trade Organization (WTO) accords in most corporate sectors. The WTO and local agreements do not cover all business sectors. For these types of transactions, you must obtain permission from the ministry overseeing the industry.
Processing Time
Pending approval from the Ministry, the process can take up to 30-60 days.
If your business is already approved and you have submitted all the required documents then:
- The Investment Registration Certificate will take twenty (20) days to process.
- The Enterprise Registration Certificate will take five (5) days to process.

How to Apply for New Company Set Up And Registration

The Department of Planning and Investment will issue you an Investment Registration Certificate to register a foreign-owned business in Vietnam. This process can take about 25 working days in most cases.

- Power of Attorney to staff for IRC
- Demonstration of the investor(s)’ financial capability
- Bank statement
- Copy of passport of foreign investors
This Certificate is also issued by the Department of Planning and Investment. It allows you to set up a new business or expand your current business to Vietnam. After gaining the ERC, you, as the investor, have 90 days to make your financial contribution to the business.

Read Full FAQ01 Who needs a Vietnam visa?
A valid visa is required for almost all foreigners to enter Vietnam, except for those whose nationalities are included in the Vietnam visa exemption list approved by the Vietnam Government. The Vietnam visa exemption is granted to the following:
- Citizens of Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Laos for visits of 30 days at the maximum.
- Citizens of the Philippines for visits of 21 days at the maximum.
- Citizens of Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Russia, and Finland for visits of 15 days at the maximum.
- Citizens of Brunei, Myanmar for visits of 14 days at the maximum.
- Citizens of France holding valid diplomatic or official passports for visits of 90 days at the maximum or several visits of 6 months at the maximum.
- Citizens of Chile holding valid diplomatic or official passports for visits of 90 days at the maximum.
- APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) Holders from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member economies for visits of 60 days at the maximum.
- Citizens of the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, and France for visits of 15 days at maximum until June 30, 2020.
- Citizens of Belarus for visits of 15 days at maximum until June 30, 2020
02 What if my passport expired? Can I apply for a visa to Vietnam?
If your passport is expired, you cannot apply for your Vietnam visa. Please renew your passport before applying for a visa to Vietnam.
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival in Vietnam.
03 I am a Vietnamese, currently living overseas with a foreign nationality, how can I get a Vietnam visa?
As Vietnamese overseas, you are kindly advised to choose either of the two following options:

04 What if my Vietnam visa is about to expire?
