What is an Investor Visa?

The Vietnam Investor Visa (or DT visa) allows the visa holder to enter/exit the country, transit through, and stay within the country. This visa is categorized into 4 types.

Who can apply for Vietnam Investor Visa?

Investment visas are required for all foreign investors who establish businesses or provide finance to Vietnamese firms. A foreigner is considered an investor in Vietnam under the following circumstances:

  • Establishing a new business in Vietnam
  • Providing funds to an existing business in Vietnam
  • Purchasing shares to a Vietnamese company

DT1 Visa

What’s DT1 Investor Visa?

Issued to foreign investors in Vietnam and representatives of foreign organizations investing in Vietnam and contributing capital of VND 100 billion or more or investing in business lines benefitting from investment incentives, in administrative divisions benefitting from investment incentives decided by the Government.

This visa is valid for 10 years only.

DT1 Visa

What’s DT2 Investor Visa?

This type of visa is granted to foreign investors and representatives of foreign organizations with a total capital investment of VND 50 – VND 100 billion or those foreign investors who are investing in businesses and areas where the Vietnam Government has set up investment incentives.

 

This visa is valid for 5 years only.

DT3 Visa

What’s DT3 Investor Visa?

Issued to foreign investors in Vietnam and representatives of foreign organizations investing in Vietnam and contributing capital of VND 3 billion to less than VND 50 billion.

This visa is valid for 3 years only.

DT1 Visa

What’s DT2 Investor Visa?

Issued to foreign investors in Vietnam and representatives of foreign organizations investing in Vietnam and contributing capital of less than VND 3 billion.

This visa is valid for 12 months only.

How To Obtain An Investor Visa From Vietnam

Ready all the necessary documents

– Certificate copies of the funded company’s Business Registration Certificate and Investment Registration Certificate for Vietnam (sponsor company)
– A document certifying the registration of a seal specimen or notifying the public that the sponsor company’s seal specimen has been published on the national enterprise registration portal.
– Form NA16: Form for registering the legal representative of the sponsor company’s seal and signature.
– Form NA5: Application for visa extension, extension of stay for foreigners in Vietnam.
– A valid original passport
– A temporary residence registration form

Send all the required documents to the Immigration Department office of Vietnam

The documents are submitted to the Vietnam Immigration Department or the Immigration Office under the Public Security in the city/country where the company is located.

How To Obtain An Investor Visa From A Foreign Country

Ready all the necessary documents

01 Who needs a Vietnam visa?

A valid visa is required for almost all foreigners to enter Vietnam, except for those whose nationalities are included in the Vietnam visa exemption list approved by the Vietnam Government. The Vietnam visa exemption is granted to the following:

  1. Citizens of Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Laos for visits of 30 days at the maximum.
  2. Citizens of the Philippines for visits of 21 days at the maximum.
  3. Citizens of Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Russia, and Finland for visits of 15 days at the maximum.
  4. Citizens of Brunei, Myanmar for visits of 14 days at the maximum.
  5. Citizens of France holding valid diplomatic or official passports for visits of 90 days at the maximum or several visits of 6 months at the maximum.
  6. Citizens of Chile holding valid diplomatic or official passports for visits of 90 days at the maximum.
  7. APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) Holders from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member economies for visits of 60 days at the maximum.
  8. Citizens of the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, and France for visits of 15 days at maximum until June 30, 2020.
  9. Citizens of Belarus for visits of 15 days at maximum until June 30, 2020
02 What if my passport expired? Can I apply for a visa to Vietnam?

If your passport is expired, you cannot apply for your Vietnam visa. Please renew your passport before applying for a visa to Vietnam.

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival in Vietnam.

03 I am a Vietnamese, currently living overseas with a foreign nationality, how can I get a Vietnam visa?

As Vietnamese overseas, you are kindly advised to choose either of the two following options:

  1. Apply for a visa exemption by visiting Vietnam Embassy/Consulate. For further information about Vietnam visa exemption for Vietnamese overseas, please read this link http://mienthithucvk.mofa.gov.vn/.
  2. If you want to save time, you could apply for a Vietnam visa online with Express Vietnam.
04 What if my Vietnam visa is about to expire?
